Dirty air filter?

I noticed that my filter looks dirty and was wondering if anyone has had any success cleaning these? I know K&N has a special oil or something but if you use too much it screws up the MAF or something. Doesn't seem worth it to try if that's the case. Mine is the BMC I believe. Who has the best price on these? TIA

WARDHOG is infamous around these parts
If you have the BMC, you can clean it yourself. If your looking to buy a new filter with oil kit, K&N is cheaper but the BMC is a better quality and it also has a oil kit for it too. When applying the oil, just lightly spray the bottom side with the oil. Don't spray both sides.

Yeah. recharging those filters make me nervous. Excess oil in the filter element is Badddddd...How many miles on the filter??? If it's less than 20,000, probably no reason to change. Just because it looks a little dirty, does not mean it has lost any of it's filtering efficiency or effectiveness. If it came to that point and mileage dictated a change, I probably would spend the $125-$140 for a new one factory oiled...
