with a toasted clutch barely hooking up and rubbing the tires on the inside of fender well (tire blew that weekend)

all of this is straight from the sticky at top of the 996tt section

Art used to be here a lot until Keven (KPG) called him VArtAlexander on too many times

 

I think we all looked forward to Art's updates on his build. That's a mean machine.

No, the assertion here was on the part of Kevin, implying that Art was a follower of VR, who was infamous for making claims (like a 3.8 second 60-130) that were unsubstantiated. VArtAlexander was a play on the two names. Once you get past the neanderthal veneer, Kevin is actually quite clever.

Of course Arts car in fact did have plenty of hard data to back it up....it is arguably the fastest car on the board.

Art was not a follower of VR, it was the reverse. VR started following Art to BBi and converted his car to 3.8L just like Art did. VR was quite upset that his car did not hit the same numbers as Art's did at the Mile event. VR had a brand new clutch in his car and Art had VR's old clutch that never got upgraded due to lack of time. Art never mentioned all this soap on this board but lot of people talked smack behind Art without knowing any details. Oh well, VR passed away God Bless his soul. As for Art, he built an insane machine with BBi. I am a close friend of Art and know him personally. Lot of people here still think I was VRAlexander. Life is funny sometimes

 

Art is a great guy, that is absolutely beyond a doubt.

 

Like him or not VRAlexander at one time advanced to the top of the 996tt world. His car helped advance the state of the art. There is no denying that. Who is leading or following at any particular time really doesn't make any difference. Experience has taught me it is far cheaper to follow.

Art was a friend of Alex I know. I also knew Alex pretty well. Just prior to Alex's accident Art contacted me asking for help for Alex in the form of two intake cams that were not available. I sent the cams to Alex free of charge.

It's really too bad there is so much animosity with some members. Sometimes it seems like it just comes with the turf.
