Where is Tom Kerr??
Like I said, I respect road racing but you guys take yourself way too seriously.
Also, you seem to forget that the roll on guys are very frequently handling upwards of 800 hp, not the 450 or less you usually see on a road course.
I'm not going to comment further. I take what I want from each forum I visit. Here I get kill videos and classified ads. For more substantial material I frequent the aforementioned sites.
I did not mean any disrespect to any of the members posting in this thread, and I envy a lot of the cars you guys own. Keep the pics and vids coming!
Not sure why you find that funny. I competed/ trained with people who were professionals, and did very well. Had I been younger I could have made a good living.
Can any of you road course guys say you are good enough at it to make a living?

Well I tried to think of things that require MUCH MORE skill, coordination, balance, strength, mental toughness and endurance than road racing, and couldn't really come up with anything. So your post sounded a little, um... well never mind.
NO!!!!! But only because other than Nascar, most (like 99%) of all road racing in the US is PAID driving, meaning the guys you see driving aren't driving because they are that good, they are driving because they bought the seat and get to learn from the few pro drivers that are actually getting paid to drive.
But if this were not the case, and all the drivers were actually getting paid, then heck yeah!! Obviously not like tomorrow, it would take some time to learn the craft, and get some coaching as it would to be a pro at anything else.
Looking at Tom's absence and some of the comments I don't believe it is very hard to figure out.
Tom, Mike and others like him are very much into tracking their cars ......... not just going in a straight line. For many, a Porsche isn't a dragster ..... it is a track car. I happen to agree with this view.
The personality of those who track these cars is different. I find it to be much more serious and they tend to stay with their cars (using them and practicing their skills) over a lot longer period of time. They also seem to be a much more principled group. Many times you will find the cars that are built to go in a straight line sold or flipped soon after completion. This does not appear to be the case with the track group. They spend a lot of time seriously practicing their skills on the track.
I do not find many 6speed members seriously tracking their cars. Rennlist on the other hand has a pretty good track following. I believe this is what the 60-130 comment was directed at.
Then again, I may be wrong.

I have beating Pro DTM , ALMS , and Champ car drivers . And I'm not a paid driver. People have no idea how difficult it is to be a paid driver. You need vast amount of money and networking to get in. Even if you have the skill, you need connections.
My preference is the track, however please don't confuse my preference with being an elitist. I also happen to be one of those guys who believe if it is yours you are welcome to do what you want with it. I do not believe in making anyone conform to my likes or dislikes. I see no reason to put down another because they have a different like in how the same car is to be used or look.
I have been around long enough to remember another good form losing a lot of members when the plenum swung the other way. That is from handling to straight line performance. If you have many years under your belt you will remember the uproar against people who placed GT2 badges on 996tt's. Personally I could have cared less, however to some this was the end of the world.
Since the days of Fun Cars On Line I have watched forums come and go. I have watched some grow while others shrink. I have watched this forum rise from nothing to one of the largest Porsche forums. This didn't come without growing pains. As membership changes so does the forum. In my opinion the trick is to assemble a forum that address the varied interests while maintaining respect for all.
This is a tall order and is easier said than done. I'm not interested in tearing down other forums. I'm interested in how to make 6speed a better forum for all types of Porsche enthusiast.

He's just a busy guy; I know his goal was to spend as much time as possible on the track. But he also has a busy practice,

CJ the problem here, is that this sub-forum has been completely overrun and taken over by single aspects of which some are mostly useless. How long did we have to complain to get something other than a 60-130 thread as a sticky (about a year). All the useful threads are somewhere in the abyss and new people will never have an idea that they exist. There is no balance here, and you post in this section enough to have seen how unbalanced it has become. Anything without a standing mile or 60-130 on it is rendered obsolete.
What we need is you and BBYWU to do MORE moderating in this section. I have to go to the GT3 and 997TT sections for some normalcy around here.
There is room for everyone here, but it's obvious who's deciding what's important and what's not, and judging by his backwards opinion, the least important things have now become the most important. And then asking people to leave if they don't like it. What kind of garbage is that? Make me a moderator and let me put the Texas Mile, TX2k11 and 60-130 on page 123 so I can tell him to leave when he gets a problem with it.
HAHA, some people.
I edited my posts and want to apologize publically to Scott and Chad both. I was in a foul mood last night and sat down at the computer to relax, not get drawn into this nonsense. I am sorry that some from Renntrack came over here to help stir the pot, and I'll ask them now to stop, as well.
Let's move on, gang. There's no wrong answers in this whole debate.

Yes, but we all know why it's a sticky. Texas Mile will be up there too.
