Maintenance Question

I'm waiting for some wevo engine mounts and a 997T tranny mounts to arrive before taking the car in for some maintenance work:

New Front pads for the 997T brakes
Wevo Engine mounts
997T Tranny mount
Check coils (I know that 2 have been replaced in the last 5K miles)
Do a boost leak check
Pressure set the wastegates so that that they are even
  1. Anyone know if the wheel bearings need to be packed?
  2. Should I consider machining the front rotors?
  3. Also, how often should one replace plugs with upgraded turbos and almost double stock boost?

15 to 20k miles.

How will you "check" the coils? Visual will not tell the story, IMO.

Thanks for the response.

When I did my turbos 5K miles ago, i had the plugs changed. At that time two of the coils were "cracked" so they were replaced. Car has 33K miles total. Should I just do the other 4 coils as a maintenance step?

If you have no misfires and are not getting into the plugs, you can probably just store it in the back of your mind that the next misfire you have 4 coils to do.... If you get another 8k before that happens then do the plugs then too.

I did my plugs at 20, and plugs+997coils at 40k. There was nothing wrong with the coils, but 40k and 6 years, given their proximity to the turbo heat, it seemed prudent. At 60k I'll do plugs again. Now, does that mean 80k and new coils?? Eh, lets hope the 997 coils have some 'history' by then.

Now do you want to spend the $$ to get at the 4 other coils right now? Hmm. Would cost just parts when they were doing the plugs, as I am sure you realize.

Where are you getting the wevo and 997 mounts and how much did they run? I should prolly think about that....

ari, You can not pack the wheel bearing as there are sealed units. You also do not cut cross drilled or slotted rotors. The spark plugs change is really up to the type of gas used more then the miles. Each driver and each car are different, someone who is up on boost doing some long pulls will use up more of the plug life then someone who just drives.

In my opinion, with the 997tt coils being under $300 a set, I can't see not replacing the coils when you do the plugs. You're already in there- might as well.
