Car Died

Well the day started off with my oil pressure dropping and then returning which appears to be an oil pressure sending unit. Then about 5 hours later, the car completely died. It would run for 2 seconds then die.

This morning, I received the call from the dealership telling me the oil pressure sending unit and fuel pump need to be replaced. Both items I have read about here that seem to be common issues.

I figured while it was in, I would complete some maintenance: new plugs, fuel filter, and serpentine belt, oh yea and an extra key (only got 1 when I bought her). Of course, the wife is worried about her being a money pit as I've only owned her 7 months. Hopefully the sending unit and fuel pump are covered under the extended warranty, which will certainly make things easier here.

Are there any other Items I should have the dealership check or do while its in? The car is an 03 with 11,500 miles.

Thanks

I'd do the coils along with the plugs, might as well... You don't have many miles, but they are getting up there in age.

Also, I'd be curios to see if your rubber hose on your fuel pump split, or if the pump itself failed. Keep us posted on this

you will get a bad slave cylinder and accumulator at some point but i don't think it's worth doing now since it is nowhere near the other things you have to change.

You might as well upgrade or change the diverter valve while they change the sending unit.

The slave and accumulator were replaced by the previous owner this past march, so I'm good there. I spoke with my service writer about changing coil packs, and he told me in 11 years with Champion, he has never seen them go bad on the 03's. I know I have read different on this site, but he mentioned not to worry as they will be covered under my warranty if they go bad.
I want to change the diverter valves too, but with my wife on maternity leave and me recently unemployed, I cant really justify it since they were also changed by the previous owner. The unfortunate part is he replaced them with stock parts.

In all honesty, I probably would have had the work completed at an Indy since we have so many of them locally, but since the car is there and they are almost an hour from my home I figured I'd just get it all done.

I was told that they think something mechanical broke in the pump, but I did hear it priming when I turned the key, so who knows.

Well my baby is back and just in time for the weekend. Warranty Co covered everything, Thank you JMA. Took her for a short drive and I'm not sure if its the new plugs and fuel filter, or maybe the pump was going for a while, but for the 1st time, she ripped the tires loose.

Kudos to my service writer Doug and Champion for the great service and delivering the car to me with a full tank of gas.

One other thing, I mentioned to Doug that the self leveling lights didnt work and was advised not all turbos have them.
