I feel all warm and fuzzy AlphaDog when I read what you wrote.. you have a way with words

Or then again, its possible that I'm so excited at the prospect of going to the US that this sort of info makes my heart dance

I just want to give Australia the middle finger and say bye bye to all their ridiculous ways.

Here's a bit of trivia; did you know that tooting your horn in a residential zone will get you a $280 fine?

Did you know that a parking ticket is minimum $80 in Sydney?

Did you know that a $220 fine applies for driving with 1 hand instead of both?

A loaf of bread at the supermarket is $5

Registration of a car is $650 per year and you need to pay tax of 5% every time you buy a car?

I bet you don't know this one: (here is a jaw dropper), my '01 996TT is worth $140,000. I paid for it 3 years ago $179,000 - stock standard.

ET911, if this can help, think that some people (like me) live in worst places....

How does it sound 63% tax on your personal income? And 2.000$ annual car registration tax? And 1000 to 4000$ for speeding over 40kmh beyond limit with speed cameras and average speed detectors everywhere?.......

I really wish I will have the possibility to move to the US myself one day....

I wish you good luck and success!

Thanks emadelta86! I hope that my plans eventuate -not an easy move but I'm determined..

And yeah, sorry to hear about where you live - I would HATE that.

But you could easily go to Germany no? - aren't you open to live anywhere in Europe? - surely there must be somewhere nice!

Unfortunately for me, there's no road connecting Australia to anywhere else!

Texas is without a doubt the capital of high HP cars.

All they do is hook you up to the OBD here and most tuners will program your car to pass, even if it is a Blow through catless system making obscene HP.

You can never do that in the Socialist Peoples Republic of CA.

Oh, and you can get a gun at pretty much any corner store.

I love high HP - that's exciting. But not the guns - especially because I have a short fuse..

Do people use the guns during regular arguments? Let's just say a moron cut you off or did something really stupid. So you naturally get very angry, would you:

1) wait till the next intersection to pull up next to him and tell him he's a moron and that you should get out and kick his ar*e?
OR
2) be too scared to tell him the above because he may pull out a gun and shoot you?

What you said about Cali is quite funny and I have a strange feeling that after a while something like that is going to annoy me if I go and live there..

I don't believe there is any place in the USA that caters to driving fast on public roads more than Houston, TX.

Thanks OS Inspector!

Have you live in Houston all your life or lived in other states/county's?

Also would you recommend Houston or Austin or Dallas?

One thing that I also like very much is boating and would like to be near water if possible..

Alabama

Alabama! I realize it wasn't one of the initial three but we're close.

Wide open roads, well maintained (we have to do something with all the corrupt earmarks we get from congress!) and state troopers who appreciate a nice car. I've been stopped several times by troopers just to be told they would be doing the same thing if they had my car but it would look bad if they let me fly by without a stop; and eventually they let me go without a ticket.

Several great Porsche mechanic specialist in the area - some crooks too, as anywhere - but a little online research will reveal the difference.

IT? Just check out UAB (University of Alabama at Birmingham) engineering - bright southern boys - difference from others is they have a bunch of common sense as well. As a business owner - I know common sense out-ranks book sense any day - but both? Forget about it!

Texans are very freindly.

Houston has a lot of seriously fast cars, good looking women and the money flowing to breed that kinda Hp and good times.
