E85 Tuning...
Guys there is great limits on the factory dme to handle really large injectors. The 80lbs injector tricked into thinking its bigger by running fuel psi that its unheard of is not going to cut it with E85. Chad is the only one that states he is using a stand alone computer that can handle it.
KeithTA is running 2150cc injectors, custom in-tank fuel pump system, modified factory fuel rails and lines, and a E85 Protomotive tune on his 997TT (stock DME). He's making 830rwhp at 1.5 BAR with this setup.
997 dme is a totally different animal. And is far better suited for that then our 996 dme.
I think it only has the following mods on an otherwise stock motor:
K24/18Gs
1,000cc injectors
EPL/USP tune on stock 996TT DME
USP Motorsports 3" race exhaust
USP Motorsports I/C's
USP Motorsports Fuel pump kit
EVO MS intake
He's gone 10.5 @ 139 and 5.1 60-130 with this setup.
Anyway, I'm looking into upgrading my GT2 fuel system to run E85 (stock DME), so I'll let you guys know what I find out.

In my opinion, a proper fuel set up has to be done, -10 or -12 lines, with -8 fuel return lines, big aeromotive or weldon fuel pump and surge tank of course...
Also those 2000cc injectors, get better idle the the old school 1600cc.
Fuel system is the type of thing that you def don't want to go cheap or be on the limit.
Some people uses multiples pumps set ups, but when 1 of them go bad you don't know and you can find out the hard way....

My post actually wasn't in response to yours, but Chris Green at USP Motorsports is running the stock DME and is making well over 700 rwhp in his E85 996TT.

Chris Green's car has around 730whp, and his fuel set up with multiples pumps and a surge tank in the trunk also.
He already went 10.2 in that car, don't know about 60-130 times.
There is no problem with a good tune stock ecu and E85 ...
Just a few cars that I had straight E100 and car's that helped set up ...
Audi RS2
Subaru 2.2 WRX 560whp
Evo VIII - 800 + whp
VW GTI
BMW 540i
BMW M5
BMW M3
996TT S - 690whp (friend's car)
Multiples GTR's and 996TT also.
All run with no problem, and if it has built motor, much higher compression and on the tune it allows to run a lot more timing and boost ....

I just don't run ethanol on my car now because I just use it for the track, and usually drive it to and back, and the tracks dont sell E85 around here otherwise I would be using U$ 2.7/g fuel, instead of crappy 93oct

For 900 - 1000 whp you'll need 1600 cc injectors , 3 x bosch 044 , aeromotive or weldon fuel pump in 10 an fuel line.
I'm runing E100 in my 996 TTS 690whp , 3 x 044 880cc injectors and that os no mutch injector dutty left. I just done a 996 TT on 3076 alpha 26 psi with 1680cc injectors and the tune is fine with the stock ECU.

I am looking to upgrade my car to run on E85 exclusively. Here in MI, it is a tossup as to whether there are more Starbucks or E85 pumps near my house
. The reasoning behind this move is as follows: My car at its most recent upgrade did 930AWHP on C16 around 26Psi and currently runs 700AWHP on 93. As much as I enjoy this car, I have very little time for it anymore with family and business commitments. I have spent much time and much more money building this motor only to run it at pump gas levels. I dont have the time, or patience to be swapping fuels and draining tanks. I want to run one fuel only and I think E85 is the ticket. I am not spending another nickel on this car as far as hardware upgrades are concerned, there is nothing left to upgrade, but I am interested in feedback from other members and even tuners on their experiences with E85. I would like to tune the car to the max with the current system I have and then control power via the EBC as opposed to a specific file. My fuel system is good for 1400 HP so it is not a concern. The injectors are 83 lb units and are the same that Joe and Bryant have in their vehicles which are are making 1100 hp or so. I would think this is enough injector even given the 20-30% increase in injector cycle needed for this fuel. The bottom line is I want to drive my car near the power levels it was built to achieve every time I turn the key, instead of rare occasions where I have the proper fuel. I really dont care about the ultimate power number, but if I would like to get 850-900 rwhp( RWD car now) every single day on fuel I can buy locally at the pump. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Kevin

That's great! but my question was geared toward injector size. E100 needs twice the injector as gas so we are back to a perceived 800cc injector to the dme. I am not against running E100 or E85 but I know a little about the 996 and how people cheat hp out of them. Not saying it does not work but its not the tired and true way of doing things.
