Silver Hood Crest Help

Need help...bought a new "Porsche" silver hood crest and when I mounted it, it is crooked. It is not even lining up against the old crest marks on the hood. Stand up and look at the car and you notice it also. When I took it off and laid it side by side with the original, it is only very slightly different (original stamped made in Germany). There is virtually no play in these. Could the emblem be defective???

perhaps the mounting pins are bent...you should check them...when you place it in it should fall right into the gasket where the old crest was and line up perfectly

I checked the pins, they appear straight. I figured it would fit exactly also. I am thinking the pins may have been soldered slightly off if that is possible. It does have a Porshe number on it.

shouldn't be that difficult...if the pins are not bent then you should try to exchange it for another since it should fit perfectly like this...

It is from a Porsche dealer with Porsche P/N. Maybe just defective. I will try to swap it out. I don't have a very good photo of it, but it is slightly ****ed to the left. I can live with it being a little lower, but not tilted.

Thanks for the input.

you can try loosening the nuts and see if there is enough play in the mounting to get it straight...I remember mine fitting tightly but it has been a few years and you know how that goes

When I installed mine I removed the gasket and cleaned the area. There was a tiny bit of play...lined up then tightened. Don't over tighten though.

Thanks for the input guys. I figured it out and included a photo. It is defective; looks like the stamping is off in the rear. Notice in the picture that the indent on the rear is lower on the left side. I guess the posts are aligned with that also. I will be sending it back tomorrow.

I just talked to Scott at Porsche of Freemount. He is a super cool guy. He explained to me that he had a bad batch...

He will have a new batch in next week!!

I'm getting one too!!
