Limit of stock and X50 tranny also IC question...

I'm going to be in the market for a TT soon and I'm comtemplating if I should get the X50. One of the issues that I can't find much info on is the tranny. From my searching it seems like the max capacity of the stock tranny is 500 torque. The X50 comes with a 'beefed up' tranny. What is upgraded? Stronger clutch? What is the hp and torque capacity of X50 one?
Also what are the differences between the GT2 Intercooler and base TT Intercooler?
