ported my headers (but what's the white crud in my old headers?)
Hey guys, I finally got around to porting the extra set of headers I bought here, and installed them this weekend. It could be in my mind, but I think I can tell there is quicker spool now, and I hear the turbo whine a little more, which is cool. I definately recommend this mod as a good bang for your buck increase (i.e., free if you port your current headers yourself).
One question. My old headers had a hard white build-up on the inside of the runners. It has a chalky appearance but was harder. What is this, and should I be concerned? My car does not smoke, even at start up, except for the very occasional puff when I don't let it sit long enough after a hard drive. I also noticed that the sections of the valves that I could see when looking into the exhaust ports after I removed the headers appeared to be a dull white color.
Maybe I need to finally datalog with my durametric to see what is going on.
Thanks, Scott.
