Current Used 996TT Market?

Almost time for me to take a step into P-Car land Looking at picking one up early summer, Junish. Those who have recently picked them up what kind of buy prices are you seeing? What do you anticipate for the summer? Sorry may be a touchy subject, I just got rid of a 2005 CL600 so I know ALL about depreciation in this market . Im looking for a sub $45K car. Car will see less then 5k miles a year, mileage not an issue if car is solid mechanically. I plan on modifying it heavily for HP, highway pulls etc.

You should be able to find the pick of your choice for 45K. I have been watching this market for about 6 months, still flip-flopping between 996TT and 997C2S. But why on earth would you put less than 5K/year on it? These cars are meant to be driven...enjoy it! Best of luck in your search.

Nothing wrong with driving 5K miles a year. I drive mine about that. Just on sunny days so I ca put the top down. BTW, the 996TT an 997C2S are totally different cars, a very easy choice in my opinion. If you have had a turbo, you will never go back to a non-turbo.

I bought my 2002 996TT in Dec 10. I was also looking the 997C2S but glad I bought the turbo. I really enjoy driving it and I think it is one of the better values in cars right now. You should be able to pick up one in the high 30's to mid 40's based on mileage etc...

When was that? Also, what color do you have? How many miles were on it?

I looked for a good year...I bought mine for $37k.....2002 X50 w/42K Miles.

I got lucky....looked at the car in July and bought in Dec.....the seller had gotten into a storage situation and didn't even know that it was a X50 and I didn't bother telling him either once I discovered it after delivery.

Jeeze and I'm talking to people asking over 60k for theirs. I really didn't want to pay more than 50k. I hope this local guy has some wiggle room because his car looks perfect aside from wood trim on the hand brake and shifter. Those seem like they'd be easy to swap for black or carbon for an otherwise clean car.

I feel like wood trim is so awfully out of place in the 996 interior, and I know I'm not the only one with that sentiment. I don't like wood trim in general for a sporty car, but in the 996 it just looks odd. My brother had an old E55 that had a dark gray wood trim, and that was pretty cool.

I considered a car with wood trim when I was searching, I am glad I didnt go for it, I would have wanted to switch it out quick. Not really cheap to do either.

You can find a nice 996TT for $45k, but be very careful w/cars that seem to be too good to be true, unless you get lucky like one of the two guys above.

I've looked at several cars that could save me $5-8k up front, but once I got the full history on the car, I walked away and let's just say I'm glad I did. :-)
