Large wing vs acceleration?
Large wing vs acceleration?
I am working on getting my car ready for the summer and have to make some purchases soon. One of the things I was looking at was a larger wing >gt2. I want a more aggressive look but want to know if this would greatly hurt acceleration on the high end since more down force will be created?
the larger wings are made for downforce at higher speeds and can be adjusted in (1) attack angle/rake (2) elevation and (3) gurney lip ... a very aggresive wing is needed based on the track and conditions and adjustment in the above 3 factors are made to the wing to adjust the ratio between downforce and drag - for one track the wing profile may be aggressive if it's a short track with slower speed corners and small straights like Beaverun vs. say Elkhart lake which is a low downforce track with multiple long straights and several constant radius and increasing radius turns. I think a race wing (like those large aggressive looking ones) in a street car is effectively useless.... but to each his own, they do look pretty *****in though lol
When I had my supercharged 2002 C-2,,,I put a cool looking Tech Art spoiler on it,for $3500 it had to be cool looking...lol....It kinda looked like a modern version of the whale tale....It made the car look tuff BUT I use to take it up to 180 mph no problem without it,,,,,,After the install of that tail,,it was hard to get it to 175 mph in the same distance......
