Modding and CPO advice needed...

I’ll be looking for a 2002 TT soon and am planning to do some mods in the future and hopefully I won’t be bitten by the mod bug too badly but exhaust, chip, SS and suspension are going to be done. All you guys talk about 500hp being enough at first but then you start modding enough to challenge CGT’s Whatever I end up doing, my warranty is likely out the window. Let’s say I want a car that has been certified already but I don’t want the warranty, do you think the dealer is going to take $1500-$2000 off the price? I want the dealer to check things out and make sure the car is in good condition but I don’t care much for the warranty since I will be avoiding it. Another idea is to drive the car around stock for a few months to make sure the bugs are out of the car and then hope for the best when I mod. In my current Audi, I modded the hell out of it and the dealer was cool and fixed many things which could have likely been caused by the mods(or me). Are the Porsche dealers strict or do you finding them closing their eyes to your mods? What do you guys suggest?

The dealer pays PCNA for the certification, so if it is "Certified" the price is likely pretty firm since the money has already been spent.

One way is to get the (certified)warranty, and then have the dealer do your ECU upgrade. You might pay a little more but they would stand behind you if you have any problems. That is what a friend of mine has done. Exhaust changes will not give you warranty problems unless you get a bunch of Check Engine Lights.

Most dealers are pretty cool, in fact I brought in my turbo to have PSS9s installed and they found out I have an aftermarket ECU (i had no idea it was there) and they still did the warrenty work lol so I would not worry about it too much. If you do crazy stuff you will probaly have more problems.
