Holy wheel clearance Batman!

I installed some 6 pots calipers on my car and just tried to reinstall the wheels, the clearance between the caliper and the wheel is crazy! I must have something like 1 mm or 2 max. What should i do, leave it like that or buy some 3mm spacer on ebay? Anyone has such a close gap? Do the wheels bend slightly when hitting potholes or do the calipers expand a little when they heat up at the track?

I suppose some 3mm spacers should be enough right? My picture is bad but you get the point, hard to photograph a 1mm gap...

thanks for any comment.

Whoa.. thats tight. I suppose that theoretically, there shouldn't be any issues. However, it's all you'll be thinking about in the back of your mind. All it'll take is one small stone, curb rub, large pothole on the highway....etc..

Yep.. just for the peace of mind, I'd get some small spacers on there.

My brakes are the same, haven't had any issues since.

V8HAHA is infamous around these parts
Id run a small spacer just in case. Theoretically it shouldn't be an issue since but id rather be safe than sorry.

I did these two years ago. I can get *1* business card between them. Raced the One Lap for a week and the wheels never flexed into the caliper.

That would make me very uncomfortable and would not run them like that. I know someone who's "Italian" car was damaged when a set of very high end well known wheels flexed and gouged his calipers while on the track.

I put brembo brakes on my mercedes CLK and had the same situation. I thought it was actually touching when I first installed them but the red paint never wore off. 20K + miles as a DD in the city of new orleans and never an issue. I even bent a rim and never had them touch.

Damon, you have BBS wheels, that doesn't count

I just ordered a set of 3mm, as some said, better be safe than sorry.

I recently put some big brakes on my M and had similar clearance issues, after talking to brake and wheel companies, they informed me that 3mm is probably the least amount of clearance I should be comfortable with, so I went with a small hub centric spacer to get me there.

The general rule of thumb is that if you can slide a credit card in between, you are good to go.

3mm should be fine. I put a BBK on my turbo sc300 and i ended up shaving down the brakes and adding a 6mm spacer to clear. i wouldnt go that far on a beautiful set of brakes like yours! the 3mm spacer should be fine.

Shaving brakes? I would have gone with different wheels that fit properly....

I had same thing with bbk and bbs lm's on my C2. I put 25K on the car as a DD in and out of NYC, no problems never hit.
