Paint gt2

Do whatever you want. If anyone places a number on the diminished value they are guessing.
For gloss orange a wrap will not cut it, only paint will do the job.
ps. My guess would be 15-20k in lost value. But hey, it would be the only orange and black 996GT2 IN THE WORLD. That is priceless.

Just wrap it. The new wraps are really good. It will cost you closer to $4k for a really good wrap.

First off , is it a 996 GT2 or 997 GT2
Wrap would be the smart thing to do.
I am really partial to period correct cars while the Orange and black looks cool on a NEW GT2 RS because the factory offered it in this set up its not my copy of tea on a car that was never offered this way.
Now granted its your car do what you like but painting it will tank the value of the car. Wrap it first and see if you "really" like it.. What looks cool on one car may not be so cool in real life.
Which is actually good for the rest of us who own GT2 that are original color etc. One less car that's original LOL -- less cars more value for us.
Ok, that's me being selfish LOL.

Well many would say you bought it precisely AT the market value.
I agree that it will cost about 10k to do correctly, or more. And the hit on value the same.
You can't say "well, many gt2s were selling for 80, and I paid 70...and my buddy witll throw a 5k paint job on it, so the value hit of 10k will basically bring the new value down to 70".
Also, if you do a crappy color change (ie you do not fully change the color of the shell, so that the original color does not peek out here and there when a buyer starts opening things, you will take a HUGE hit. You will have an unsellable car, or a car that would only appeal to a buyer looking for a track car.
Go for it. Who cares really....

I'm surprised at how many people are talking about taking a hit on resale. Most of us with 996s would be in real trouble if the original owners thought that way. They kept their cars in pristeen shape after paying $165 K Cdn for these babies just to sell for 30% of the original value after driving less than 30 K miles (in most cases). Resale - what are you thinking??? Do what you want and enjoy your ride to the max.
