Anyone heard of Porsche Motorsport parts? Carbon Fiber hood...

Someone local has a carbon fiber hood they say is from Porsche Motorsports (the european part, not north america). He said the part retails for about $3,500.

He wants far less, but it doesn't seem worth it unless its truly a Porsche product (plenty of other guys sell them new for $1k).

Any help is appreciated. His pics of his car with the hood are below...

That's a new one to me. Not aware of Porsche making any factory CF parts for street cars. Unless the Cup Hoods were made of CF and they sell them, I call BS

Doesn't Betim at BBI have a direct connection to Porsche Motorsports? He could probably find out the truth about this.

Porsche did make a CF hood for at least the 996 GT3. According to posts on this forum from 2005, there was a factory hood for the 996 GT2 that cost $5500.

Thank you for the info.

Apparently Porsche Motorsport NA only makes parts for the GT3

Porsche Motorsport Europe used to make parts for other cars. He claims the original price was $3,500 but I talked to Porsche Motorsports NA and they also said they thought the price was like $6k.

His story is a bit fishy and he isn't great on answering his e-mail...I will pass.

Thanks again.

Ben

The 996 gt3rs that was only available in europe had a carbon kevlar hood as standard.
It could be this part as it will fit any 996,it should be carbon unpainted on the underside and colour painted on the outer
hope this helps,Neil

1q2w3e4r is infamous around these parts
Yeah as Neil said, it came on the 3/RS. The Porsche "badge" should be a sticker on the hood and it will have a perfect CF naked weave on the underside.
