997tt wheels on a 996tt?
997tt wheels on a 996tt?
First, are they a straight swap? Similar offsets, etc.? Will 996 lugs work? I have 15mm spacers in the rear--would those still be usable?
Second...what are your opinions? I'm not big on aftermarket wheels--I actually think Porsche OEM wheels are nice and solid. What do you think looks better on a 996--hollow spokes or 997 wheels?
I'm torn...I'm set to buy new tires and have my wheels refinished because the previous owner really didn't take good care of them... For that same money I can get a set of 997tt wheels in the classifieds here...

Does anyone here run 997tt wheels on thier 996tt with the following tire sizes (no spacers):
Front: 235/35/19 (25.5'' diameter)
Rear: 295/30/19 (26'' diameter)
Have you had any problems with PSM engagement around corners or rubbing or other issues?
I've been running 235/35/19 and 315/25/19 (25.2'' diameter) as that is the ideal setup for the 996 since it is under the supposed max height of 25.5'' and is withint .3'' diameter difference so as not to cause damage to the diff. I'd really like to put Hankook's on front and rear (I think they are great value for street use), but Hankooks are not available in the 315/25/19 size and I'm not paying for PS2's at over $500 each.
I currently have PS2's (235/35/19) on the front which are dead and pretty new Nitto Invos (315/25/19) on the rear, and have had systemic PSM problems around fast, long corners like highway ramps at aggressive speeds ever since I put on the 997tt wheels with these mismatching tires. I know several have experienced this issue with 997tt wheels, with one report of a coilover adjustment to fix it supposedly. I know I should not mix tire manufacturers as well, and hope to find something that will work for just one manufacturer in a size that is not ridiculously priced.
TIA.

Anyone? ^^
I'm can get some Hankook V12's for about $100 each new this week so am going to take a chance with mismatching tires again and hope that 225/35/19 Hankook fronts and 315/25/19 Nitto Invo rear's (both exactly 25.2'' diameter, so should be perfect match), will elimiate the PSM issue I've had with high speed cornering. I think the rubber compound/tread should be simlar enough on these two tires not to make a difference given the perfect size match.

Diameter is 26.3'' on that size which is .7'' too big for the 996 and will likely cause rubbing with or without spacers since it it too tall.
295/30/19 would be better at 26.0'', but even that size has a couple reports of rubbing. I guess I'm just going to mismatch tires again and get the 225/35/19 Hankooks in front (25.2'') and 315/25/19 Nitto Invo's in rear (25.2''). At least the ride height will be dead on and hopefully my PSM issue will go away.
BTW, I checked out my rear Invo's yesterday and they are wearing pretty aggressively on the insides, especially the right one, which is exactly how my last set wore out. It's been about 6,500 miles and I'll probably be lucky to get to 12,000 (road use only). Expensive tires. I'm going to do an alignment when I put the fronts on, but the camber is so aggressive on these cars the tires will still wear on the inside.
