I've been searching high and low for a 996TT for the past month or so. That car seems a little high, but not by a huge amount. My experience is that prices are all over the place and deservedly in many cases. A low mileage car with a single owner and no stories isn't the same as a car that's got 50k miles 4 owners, and no records.

If you like the car and you're comfortable with the price and it needs nothing and has no stories I'd say go for it.

SIngle owner, so you have the history.

Sure you might get a 35k car, with minimal history and 6 owners (and 4 'car dealers' that beat on in and never show up on carfax) and luck out... but there is a value to low miles, verified history, etc.

HOWEVER do not be lulled by a 60 year old owner. You must get a PPI. I seem to recall a yellow car a few years ago that had a high speed off-road excursion and the mid-60s owner 'just welded up the bent parts'

45k is a pretty good deal if the car passes a PPI. don't get lulled into security by a 60 year old owner. If he cares enough to chip the car, put on trendy HRE's, and a loud exhaust I'm not going to assume he's babying anything.

I've never seen a 996TT in the mid 30's that was totally desireable without stories. "Good examples" all seem to start around 45k. 40k if you're lucky and find a motivated seller.

Good luck!

High for a private party. 42-43 is probably about right for that car, but at some point you have to figure out what your time is worth (although looking for cars has always been more fun for me than buying them).
