puma speed cats strike a good balance.

onitsuka tiger tai chi (as seen in kill bill) also fit the bill, they give great pedal feel.

barefoot driving is fun too just kick off the flip flops.

 

I have some Fila Michael Shumachers in white, and Puma Cells which are kinda cool.

Don't wear the Schumachers anymore, but I've never seen a pair anywhere...

 

Too true. Some of the shoes make ya look like a poseur on the street IMO. The Piloti Monacos are a little more low-key and sort of resemble a casual sport shoe without being too flashy. I got a pair this year, and no problems thus far, seem pretty rugged actually. If racing, it's a different story, mid-high race-specific shoes, thin, minimal overhangs, all function. My race shoes are always black so they don't show the dirt, oil, grease, whatever--inevitably you're under the car in the paddock at some point fixing something and don't have time to change. Also good for karting. Btw, I know it's been mentioned somewhere in the past here, but I'll second the suggestion of wrestling shoes for street driving; very comfy, thin-soled, good feel...and they're cheap! And screw the fact that they're not nomex-lined, if the rest of you isn't, you might as well cook evenly.

 

Select the Piloti if you are driving the kids to Baskin Robbins for a scoop. If you want a basic great racing shoe, get the Sparcos, ($90.00) and add the strap-on ankle coolers that you can order through saferacer.com. If you put the car away before your right foot heats up, just get the cole hahns and be done with it.

must be an old picture, most of the F1 teams, as well as GT racing teams, are in bed with PUMA.

PUMA is still very cool, but im afraid if it gets TOO prolific it may suffer a burberry? hope not.

pretty soon they will probably have made enough money to start get their own F1 team, ala red bull.

 

KPV, I got them at a Foot Locker I think in San Diego about 3 years ago. Schumacher isn't with Fila anymore, so the shoe is history.

I think I paid over $100 if memory serves me correctly.

 

Michael Toschi Machster is the best daily driving-walking shoe for me with its carbon fiber insole. $430.
