My name is Joe and I live in So Cal. I recently was invited to a Porsche drive event with a friend and was hooked. I have always loved Porsches, especially the turbos and have been looking into one seriously since the 996s are within my budget.
I have been a long time gear head and was into fox body Mustangs for the longest time, but they just aren't for me any more. Ready to get into something classy that's still awesome to drive.
I have read quite a bit on the forums already and it seems like the 996tt's are quite a favorite and seem relatively stout minus a few little issues. I enjoy doing things myself, just looking for a car that won't be a giant headache. I am getting married in October and the fiancee has given me the green light to get something after that.
I am also seriously considering an 07/08 Audi RS4.

hey there, i looked at audis (well the S5 and RS5) before my E92 M3 and I really think you would be making a bad choice buying one! I did not enjoy them, even the RS5 which I had more time with I found very boring, it just did not feel that quick, was not fun to drive and really overall was not an exciting car. If you are going to go for any mid-size premium saloon I would always go for the E92 M3 with the 4.0 V8 (preferably 6MT for me!) as they are fantastic cars and a lot of fun thanks to the light, revvy engine and RWD with plenty of feel for the road through the steering wheel.
That being said... the 911 Turbo is in a different league, the 996 is a really raw, drivers car but still just about comfy enough to use daily. Just a fantastic car that really does put a smile on your face every time you drive it - be it driving to the store or flat out around a track.
Buy one and go enjoy the roads!
