Removing rear Bose speaker box ?

Hi,
I'm looking for a bit of space inside the car to install a 2 way radio unit which is 8"x6"x2".

I'm thinking there might be some space within the rear Bose speaker unit.

Any idea if there is or how to remove it ? Looks like there's a couple of carpeted flaps which might have something to do with it.

I have considered mounting the radio in the front trunk - may still do that, but then it's a rather long coaxial run to the rear lid where I plan on mounting the antenna.

FYI the radio is for ham radio 144/432MHz

Thanks

msindi is infamous around these parts
1) snap the covers that say "bose" on them and there should be a T30 torx behind each one
2) remove two screws
3) pull unit out gently and disconnect wire behind it
Et Voila!! Nothing to it....
