Very cool! You should also check out the T-Rex as it's in the same price range.

In comparing the two -- it looks like the T-Rex doesn't have the same performance number as the Atom -- but it can be registered and is street legal (at least in the U.S.).

I have never driven one, but I will tell you this.

I went to the Lotus driving school at Spring Mountain Motorsports park outside of Las Vegas, and I discussed the Atom with their chief driving instructor.

He did not like the car. He said that it was very fast, but very twitchy and unpredictable. It has significant lift off snap oversteer and he said it was downright scary to drive on the track at more than 7/10's.

I was surprised to hear him say that, and it really discouraged me from getting one myself. This is just what I have heard from someone else, and like I said, I have no experience with the car myself.

If you get one, let us know. It seems like about the most fun toy you could have.

I looked on the Trex website...nice! Tough choice I like them both...very fun machines. I've seen the Atom at our local Cars n coffee a they are registered on the street and have VIN tags. Other than that the only places they are really seen are at the track...I think they need to have full windsheilds in some states. The TRex looks like a hoot...closer to a bike than a car, I think the Atom pushes the spectrum closer to a car with the 4 wheels...

Your widow will be able to sell the Atom (to me). The TRex will be harder to unload when you graduate to something from the Scooter Store.

There are a couple of members that have owned or currently own them. PM Tblackj or Silversurfer.

my thing right now is space...I live in the city and have only 2 car garage, it's a big tandem unit 37' back and 16' across - but I can only get 2 cars and my track gear, toolbox, wheels tires etc... I could squeeze in a bike but even the Atom in it's small dimensions would not fit. My race car is maintained and stored at a local shop and my truck is outside...so I am tapped for space unless I move :(
