996TT price check

Sorry about this guys. I normally despise the 'price check' thread as I have no problem doing the research for my own cars. But this one is for a good friend and I don't know squat about 996's.

He's looking to trade a clean 05(?) C4S cab with 40,xxx miles for a supposedly pristine 2001 996TT (silver/black). I don't have much in the way of details, but it's a 6-speed and has about 5,000 (yes, 5,000) miles on it. No known accidents/damage. Does not have the X-50 pkg to my knowledge.

Based on this limited info, what is a reasonable offer for this car, perhaps also taking into consideration the trade of the C4S? If more info is needed, please let me know and I'll get it. Danke.

Based on the little info you're giving, I'd say the 5k mi. '01 TT will be at least $16k more than the '05 4S Cab w/ 30k miles.

Thanks for the estimate, ROCK. Again, I apologize for the lack of info. What other options would you want to know about regarding the vehicle to make a more informed estimate?

Well, if it is an early '01 with the warts on the front bumper...

I haven't really been looking at pricing as much since i bought mine, but i'd say $50k given the low low mileage. If it has desireable options (IMO) like carbon fiber, sport seats, black or dark gray interior etc... i'd jump the price up a little. If it has less desireable options like tan or light gray interior, wood, strange exterior color, i'd take a few off of it.

I don't think I would want a 10 year old car with only 5,000 miles on it. I'd be worried about dry rotted seals, hoses and such. These cars are meant to be driven.

Yea, there is a 2005 GT2 on duPont Registry that has 73 miles on it, asking almost sticker for it!

Without the X50 package and with a clean carfax report I would guess the 996 TT would sell for between $45,000 to $50,000 (selling price not asking price). Typical 40,000 mile TT's are going for high 30's to low 40's, so I'm adding a lot for the low mileage.

Later, Steve
