Obtaining service records

Hello guys,
The carfax is pretty general in terms of the service history. The current dealership only has records from the current owner. They said they always erase the previous owners records once the car comes in under a new name, not sure if the car in question was even serviced at the same dealership or not ? I was also told,Porsche is a franchised dealership,so they can't access info from another dealership
Please advice as to how to retrieve the history on this car.
Thanks

My car was a Texas car it's whole life. I bought the car in Dallas and drove it back to Denver.

2 days later I took it to the local Prosche dealer and they were able to run the VIN and give me a printout of everytime the car had been in for a service and what was done. They were also able to see the car's original option list and thats when I learned that I have an X50 car and not a reg k16.

I'm not saying that your dealer is lying, but mine was able to give me the service history with no problem. Granted that all services had been performed at other certified Porsche dealers. Maybe that makes a difference.

There is also a Certification request you can send in to Porsche North America and they will send you a copy of the original build sheet and MSRP of your vehicle. Its an official certification and signed by a rep from Porsche North America. It's a pretty cool thing to have.

The dealer should be able to pull the car's history though using your VIN as long as the services were performed by other Porsche dealers as they are all linked to PNA to keep track of the cars.

Just my experience. Hope it helps.
