Turbo vs Boxster

sounds like a strange thread, but here's the story. a few weeks ago, i bought my wife an 04 boxster tip (2.7l) for her birthday. i took it on a 200 mile drive today, and i've got to admit that it handles better than my 03tt. it is lighter and crisper, and the suspension seems a little more precise. i have owned 7 different porsches, but this boxster seems to handle better than everything that i have owned.

don't be surprised. i feel the same.
boxster is not a fast car but the handling is hard to beat. if u have a chance to go to porsche driving experience, u'll even like it more. they just built for difference purpose. there is no way u can drive ur TT like boxster in autocross at least not me

If the boxster is not fast enough Gemballa has a 500hp upgrade!!

Now that would be awesome!!

Drove a Boxster on the Autocross circuit at my last PDE. Very agile. I frequently drive my wife's '02 Boxster. Really like the way it handles but there is little room for my 6'4" frame. I'll stick with my 996TT.

Completely with you doc. May sound like a scratched record, but I just love the 2.7. It may not have a vast amount of power but it's one of the best handling cars I've ever driven, lovely gearshift, and the tuned exhaust in the new model sounds superb. However I think the constant potential for perfectly balanced oversteer is the thing I find most grin-inducing. Just a shame you have to drive it with knees pinned against the steering wheel and door trim.

Looks like Gemballa toopk the reins with Stola too, silly performance. Silly.

Sad thing is... a Ruf 3600 or a Gemballa upgrade costs somewhere between a GT3 and a GT2.

Anyone has test results of the Gemballa Boxster with 500HP?

Doc,

I think the mid-engine design of the Boxster and the lighter weight may be the culprit behind the better feeling of handing.

gentlemen, i agree with the kness against the dashboard issue-i am 6'7" and damn near need the jaws of life to get me out. i was just so impressed with the boxster's overall handling. it is such a complete peice, that i think the horsepower of the regular boxster is fine-i don't think that you need the boxster s.
