Thoughts, opinions on adding only headers...

Yesterday I had my 996TT on a ramp and started looking underneath, since I like the sound of my 996TT I wanted to see how exactly the exhaust system was composed, the cats and muffler looks somewhat like the Europipe piece, obviously the Europipe brings lots of performance and bling but the OEM piece is not bad yet the headers look punny and badly done, so here are the questions:

Is it a good idea to add just headers? What would be the gains on doing so? and of course if so which ones?

HI,Those stock headers work great and at your level aftermarket ones would not do anything for you.......Change your mufflers/cat system for a gain......Do a search because their are many threads addressing this....Just this last week their were a few,,,,which will give you the info you are looking for......Good Luck

I know on a n/a 996 many headers make worse power and torque than stock. I'd assume, same for a Turbo, especially since it's boosted an increase wouldn't be seen until the stock system becomes the thing that's limiting potential power.

+1, Ported factory is the way to go. But to feel something you need an exhaust.
