Spirited drive = $$$$$$$

I discovered one of the reasons why my recent dyno numbers weren’t where I had expected them to be. The previous weekend, I went on a very spirited drive with our crew
Spirited Drive Thread
and had all four wheels leave the ground over this one crazy dip. Well, besides the front lip having to be refinished, I just discovered two other parts that need to be repaired/replaced. The headers!!!!!

It doesn’t look like these are repairable, so I will likely need to replace them. The price of fun! UGH!!!

I am familiar with the Imagine Auto and EVO headers but not aware of any others.

What aftermarket 996 Turbo headers are available?

Try a good metal fab shop and have them weld repaired. They don't look too bad to me.

It will be very important to determine the EXACT type of steel alloy utilized by the OEM of your headers so as to match the weld filler material to the parent material.

My $0.02, good luck!!!

no hole yet (atleast it doesn't look like it), just leave em

I doubt that came from just one bump (99% sure). So you know it's just gonna happen to the next set.

Wow, at least the headers acted like a protection plate.. I bet it could have been worse...

Rob, you see this... It's best to keep all four wheels ON the ground...

If you're going to replace them, I recommend a ceramic-coated
set of stockers, perhaps with some cleanup of the intake end.

Scott,
It absolutely came from one bump. It was like a ski jump. I park under the car regularly as it is on a lift most of the time in my garage. I routinely look up at the components and specifically at the headers as I know they are susceptible to damage.

Joe,
Why so? My entire reason for the change to the headers in place of the stock exhaust manifild was due to the collector shape. When you look at the stock exhaust manifold, the #1 and #3 as well as the #4 and #6 pipes are nearly pointed directly at each other at the juncture. Granted, the exhaust pulses are not coexistent, but I want to know that the pulse is being directly towards the turbo rather than partly up the opposing pipe!!!!
If you take a look at both IA's and EVO's headers, you will notice the collector is much more steeply inclined.....conical if you will.
To me, at least intuitively, that would somewhat insure a smoother flow path to the turbo.
