I started to wetsand the centre of my wheel today to take the mirror polish off of it

I prefer the painted centre to the mirror polished centre - but I think a brushed centre could look good too so I'm going to try that before I paint it again

I'm up to 2,500 grit so far
I've got a few sanding marks from the paper, so i'm going to try some normal car polish to try and remove them without giving the centre any reflection

I'll post some more pictures once this one's done (brushed centre & mirror polished rim)

Ok, I've taken some of the shine off the wheels

They're still polished, but nowhere near being mirror polished now
They've got a lustre/sheen to them, but not loads

Since everyone keeps saying my wheels are old school I thought I'd add some old style wheel centres too

Need to do something about the wheel bolts next

Thoughts??

So, with that in mind, has anybody got any thoughts or pictures they'd like to share with me?

Polished and/or brushed pictures are always welcome
Chromed looks gangsta and they also develop bead leaks all the time. Polished is way cool. You can them clear coated when you done so you don't have to repolish them but it does take some of the brilliance out.

I had no idea you could disassemble 3piece wheels without taking the tirees off first.. Is this safe? I would like to refinish my hre's and this would save me some trouble!

STOP!!

You can't disassemble all three piece wheels like this

Do you know, are your wheels.....front mount, rear/reverse mount, or centre/sandwich mount?

If you're not sure, just post some pictures or tell me the model and I'll let you know

As long as you don't forget to let the air out first

Yeah, no worries with those

They're front mount wheels, meaning the inner barrel and outer rim are butted together and the wheel centre is just dropped in from the front and bolted in place

As mentioned before, make sure you remove the air in the tyres though

Also, if the centres are rotated when they're refitted you'll have to rebalance your wheels

Hope that helps?
