997 shifter fitting - do I need plastic fixing piece?

I bought a standard 997 shift kit (non SSK) used for my 996. It does not have the Green plastic retaining clip to set the lever. Is this going to give me problems?

I have looked at the 'how to' from Mikelly for fitting the 997ssk (I presume this is the same instructions for the non-ssk?) and am worried that I won't be able to complete the job if I require this plastic clip.

So, if I do need it, anyone know the part no. ?

Here is what you do. Call your local independent Porsche shop or dealer if they are not tools and offer $10 bucks cash to one of mechs for one. All of the OEM shifters come with these plastic pieces attached. Chances are they have a few laying around.

Thanks for the tips. Unfortunately, I live in the UK so not much chance of borrowing a clip on here (I may enquire on a uk forum tho!).

Do I really need the clip if I Mark the cables and count the threads, as I assume if the go back to there original thread positions all should be good without the need for the clip, what do you guys who have DIY'd this think?
