Curious and a little confused about 360 Spider vs. X50 …

I have been looking at used X50’s in the last few weeks to replace my present Turbo. I need something to hold me over until the 997 Turbo is available. Several low mileage X50’s are available as a result of trade up/downs to 360 Spiders.

Now I understand that Ferrari’s sound better. The visceral experience is better. But why would anybody rationally do this trade? It seems to me to be a step down for a lot more money.

There's no accounting for taste. 95% of all owners if either
of those cars ever really explore the performance and handling
limits, so in real terms the choice is purely artistic. People
swap because they want to dabble with both of them and
don't have garage room for both at one time. Some people
are really seeking "the high of the new".

Mike, if you like convertibles drive a 360 Spider and find out why. If you want a coupe that is performance based then you could do a lot better than buying a X50 for a lot less money. The new VetteZ6 will be a stellar performer at half the price of the 997TT.

I'd say to give it a little change up go with a used 360... It is a completely different car than the new 997 turbo will be but that way you can experience 2 different types of cars. and who knows, you may fall in love with the 360 and never get a 997... only time wil tell! good luck in y our search

Mike I would guess there are five times as many Porsche's in La Jolla as Corvette's. Exclusivity does have its benefits.
