Trouble installing transmission mount

In the process of replacing my trans mount. Seemed easy enough when I started. Took the old trans mount without any problem. My trans mount was totally shot. BOTH sides of the mount were completely separated from the rubber surround. This may explain why my tip started to leak and I hear a grinding sound when I go around corners under acceleration. Anyway, I'm replacing it with the 997 trans mount. But, I can't get the transmission to line up with the trans mount holes! It is very frustrating. Anyone change their trans mount and have the same problem? Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Try a jack to help lift it back in place

Sometimes you will need to pull the motor/trans forward or aft in order to line up the elongated holes in the trans mount. if you need to pull the motor/ trans forward try using a ratchet strap, hook one end on the metal mount on the bottom of the motor the one that is held on with the case bolts. then hook the other side to the cross member for the front drive shaft, tight the strap until the boltholes line up with the stud. Hope this helps..

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I ended up going to Harbor Freight and buying a under hoist stand to precisely adjust the height of the transmission and used a crowbar to move it a little forward. Man, the right tools make the work a lot easier. I got a great price on the hoist stand; regularly $90.00, bought it for $32.00!
