Ferrari 430 Scuderia versus 996T - Story
I just have to share this story. Went to Grossglockner Pass in Austria and just outside Lienz, two Ferrari’s 430 Scuderia were waiting to pull out the petrol station. I gentlemanly let them go in front. They thanked me and I began admiring 430’s **** however, once the road cleared these two nutters went for it flat out. Well needless to say I immediately joined in. What followed was a true surprise, up to 120mph I was dead even then I had to slam the brakes on not to rear end the Ferrari at 160-170mph. 430 was screaming alright but I guess 457nm of torque and 480bhp was no match for my 530bhp crank and 660nm torque baby. Once we’ve hit the twists (and the mountain road is fantastic) I backed off as I was the better driver and speeds were becoming truly stupendous for a regional road. Guys were (Gumball race insane). I found out what was important, flashed them and backed off. Never mind; the bottom line, up to 120mph phase 2 tuned 996T will be dead even with Scuderia and once above 120mph Scuderia is toast. The noise of 430 whilst flat out, however, is truly fantastic!
in the twisties, would you think f430 will have a slight advantage over 911 due to mid engine setup?
many porsche owners don't realize how solid the 911 platform is. we all lust for the ferrari sound and exotic look. unfortunately, that's where things end for 360/430. this is addressed in the 458 at last.

I have a 360 Spider with Tubi, fun car, live in a small area in Wash. St. so I quite a lot of second glances. Scuderias are still depreciating quite quickly, 1/3 in 2 years. Will soon be at 150k, but the lightly modded 911 turbos are still a much better value.
Cargraphics pipes (medium) and flash (1,2bar) That's it. I estimate 530bhp at crank max. So crank 530bhp is all you need.
Probably, but as I said we weren’t equal drivers, they gave it all on straights and were “***** footing” through corners. Also, I have PSS10's and Eibach sway bars fitted, so handling much improved. And as always with the turbo; slow in fast out...
As I nearly rear ended 430 at about 150mph, I wonder was this due to slipstreaming? I was about 30 metres behind him. When would slipstreaming come into play?

Not that much, some, but only a couple mph, not like you see on an F1 race where they get to 15 mph faster than the other car.
At those speeds more hp is almost always greater than less weight and your Tune/Exhaust should produce more than 530 crank hp. The 996 TT is also more slippery in the air if I'm not mistaken.
Scud press cars have trapped 121-126 which would make sense as that's just about what a K24/Exhaust/tune Turbo will trap. However Ferrari are known for press car ringers so who knows how that translates in the real world. Sounds just about right with what you experienced.
