I mannage to stuff a 2JZ-GTE in the back of a Delorean. I had to custom fabricate the flywheel and 3.5" tall bellhousing to make it fit, these intercoolers will be a walk in the park.

Interested to see how this turns out, good luck!

I'll start a DIY thread for these. I'll offer the drawings to everyone for free or maybe you'll be able to buy the endtanks from me ready to go.

You will have a hard time with that one too... 9" wide is too wide for the black plastic to go around the core... with the 14" long core your endtanks will be tiny as hell... don't ask me how I know... lol
Can you make a one off.. probably... Cant wait to see what you come up with ... better yet what come up against to make it work.. good luck markski There are many ways of skinning cats and many people doing it.. If I could make the money I make with my business building cars. I would.. Been there done that.. Its a bunch of cheap people with expensive cars that think that I should be so honored to work on their car that I should do it for free... hilarioushilarioushilarioushilarioushilarioushilar ioushilarioushilarioushilarioushilarioushilarioush ilarioushilarious |
Oh, and the 9 inch wide cores fit. "don't ask me how I know... lol"

I totaly agree that this is not something you would want to offer as a product for the general non DIY Porsche owner. It will take some work, but it'll be satisfying in the end. I have the money to buy whatever set of intercoolers i want, but i just feel they are more than i want to pay knowing what i can do myself; two 4.5" intercoolers for under $1K.
I want to offer the tanks as a starting point for the DIYer on this site. I'm planning to build a jig for each side so i can replicate them if someone wants some help puting a set together. |
I'm excited. :D
|
^^^ me too ...a nice set of 4.5" ICs for less than a grand....sounds like a good deal...
02turbo996 please keep me posted on your custom parts for our cars... :) |
Not always size matters, efficiency counts :D
|
Agreed! That's why my intercoolers will still use the forced air ducting like the stock intercoolers did.

02turbo996 please keep me posted on your custom parts for our cars... :) Under a grand is if you do the welding and fabrication yourself. I plan to provide the drawings and instruction for modifying the ducting and intercooler frame to everyone on this forum. I would assume $1500 or under to have someone put it together for you ;). |
Here are some preliminary models from the engineer. I have 3D PDFs that show more detail. We should be cutting metal next week and have the first two sets made.
