Aftermarket warranty for 996TT?
Hi guys,
I just bought a 2001 996TT with 20,000 miles. I'm wondering whether I should buy a warranty for it. Sorry if this is already addressed elsewhere, but I couldn't find a thread on this...
Pros/Cons? Cost? Which company do you recommend?
The dealer I bought the car from recommended one for 3y/30,000 miles for $3,200 as long as I buy before the car clicks 24,000 miles. But then, looking up the company on the internet showed lots of issues with those guys...
Hit me up with your experience/recommendations
Thanks

From what I've read unless you get a Porsche cpo warranty you should consider an attorney to go along with any aftermarket third party warranty to help you collect. I could be wrong but do yourself a favor and use the search button for info.
Hello,
I bought an aftermarket warranty through Direct Buy Auto Warranty, I bought their Platnum warranty with Zero deductable going 4 years and in less than a year of having it I have paid for about half of it in warranty work. I used this very same company for my last Porsche, a 1994 928 GTS and paid for the warranty 3x over in 4 years.

California is a funny place for 'extended warranties'... virtually ALL advice from people outside CA will not apply to an owner buying in California..unfortunately.
CA dept of insurance requires companies have a presence in CA and has rules on financial backing, many insurers cannot sell here because of that,,,

Elric,
You should call Christine Takla, the finance manager at Pacific Porsche in Torrance (310-891-2100 x4121), and get a quote for Fidelity platinum coverage. She had the best deal I could find. I debated this whole warranty issue after buying my '05 TT with 20K on it too. I haven't had to put in a claim for anything yet so I can't vouch for the ease of getting a claim taken care of, but after checking with local P dealers, this is the company they use. Also, a couple of independent shops here did have good things to say about Fidelity. A web search will always find negative comments on any warranty company, so take that with a grain of salt. Admittedly, I got the warranty for peace of mind and I think it was worth it. Of course any insurance is a gamble, so best luck in your decision.
