Monitoring Brake Pad wear
Monitoring Brake Pad wear
Guys is there any way to monitor brake pad wear with the wheels on the car, before they start going metal to metal with the rotors. Another small point is that the holes in my rotors seem to be filling up with pad dust ? Typically how many miles should pads last approx
Nothing you can do except for a visual inspection, that is until the sensors go off.
Dust in the holes is not an issue.
Wear rate is highly dependent upon duty cycle (how hard you brake, and how often). Way too many variables to predict.

There is a brake pad sensor light in the gauge display. Once in awhile a sensor fails to go off and you end up with metal to metal. But since most street PCNA steel rotors wear about about as fast as the pads you end up replacing everything anyway. I've never been able to have a rotor resurfaced within spec. PCCB are a whole different story. Inspect them often and don't trust the warning sensors. The rotors are way too expensive to replace compared to changing pads that still have some material left.
