Audio set ups

Hi guys,

My coupe currently has a rear bolt in cage installed and Ive been thinking about replacing it for an audio set up.

I found a local sale for a custom enclosure that mounts right behind the rear seats.

Does anyone here have a rear seat audio install done on their 996 coupes?

Pictures, details and pricing would be appreciated.

- B

I put his together for Subs and an extra set of 6 1/4s. I put the amp (Alpine PDX-5) in front where the stock one was. The enclosure cost about $100 in supplies, but I'm sure if you tried to buy one from a custom shop, it would be 10X plus...

Slider,

Great job! I'd love to do something similar. Some questions,

- Did you form the enclosure in the car & is it removable?
- Enclosure volume?
- Size and make of the subs?
- Do you have any pictures during the assembly, brief description of how you made it?

Yes, the enclosure is removable in seconds. I put terminals on the side for easy installation/removal.
I'm guesstimating a little under 2 cu ft.
Subs are JL Audio 6 1/2 inch 6W3v3-4.
Step by Step Assembly pictorial here: http://www.comtech.ws/Porsche911/DIY...911SubBox.html

The pictorial should make it unnecessary for me to explain, but basically a frame out of wood laid over a fibreglass mould I made in the car itself. I completed the enclosure with fibreglass and body fill to smooth it all out. Then I covered in Carbon Fibre to match the look of my interior. The whole thing took about a week to make in my spare time. It was lots of fun.

Perfect, thanks for sharing!

I've never built an enclosure with fiber, been watching videos on the web with the same thing in mind. You've made it that much easier to pluck up the courage.
