Stock exhaust manifold, meaningful to clean up edges?

This is what we did...ported and ceramic coated - they have been on the car for 7 years and about 75,000 miles without failure. Stephen did a nice job on these.



Again - 75,000 hard miles ported, absolutely no issues. In contrast, I have heard of failures of every other brand of aftermarket headers that I am aware of, some failures as soon as just a month or two after installation.

That said, I have never heard of a ported set of OEM headers failing - only speculation that it may happen. I think history shows you are more likely to have a header failure if you upgrade to an aftermarket header vs. port your own.

HEY,,,Did you ever look to see how small that inner diameter is in the collector area??.....And when you see how some of them were welded up with big weld beads around there,it is even a smaller I.D. there...Porshe changed the way they were welded them in the later models....Cleaner welds and less weld material everywhere....AND they still held together...
