I'd pay $800,- probably even 1K !
The usual mold run that the factories want is 500 sets, prepaid. So 200 sets is nothing unless all of you want to prepay 2.5 times the MSRP and then still wait several months. That is unless Rotec has the bank to front it. And the car gets older every single day....

I would have bought a set too if they weren't crap. Who knows, he might still get it done.

But no updates at all probably means he got told the hard facts and had to pass. But I've been wrong before and will be again. Too bad. I don't get rid of cars all that much. Old or not, I like my 996TT.

When do you anticipate getting the 996 WB in stock?

And who is the manufacturer of these lights? The wording seems to indicate it would be the same as the 997 lights. Anyone know who that is?

ooooh boy, here we go again...

Not to be too skeptical but at this point I wish vendors would just be quiet until they actually have the merchandise in their hand... and it's functional.

Clearly the need/market for these is VERY well represented in the carrot dangling Rotec threads
So asking on these threads if anyone is interested is arbitrary at best...

Over 200 6speeders have stated that they ARE VERY INTERESTED so by deduction I can only state this smells like another marketing ploy to get the company name out there and gather rep point for something which will never happen.

There should be a bs point system too...

Sorry but I'm just tired of having another person pee in my boots and tell me it's raining...

That's why I want to know who is supposedly making them. Who made the 997 lights? I have zero intention to bring over any and sell them myself. I don't even want to go to the trouble to get a comp'd set for me.

What I will do is find out in short order if they are in the works and the timeframe.

I am assuming, but far from certain, that they are referring to the company Dectane, who already build some 997.1 widebody LED taillights. Here is a link to a thread that has more information about the 997.1 widebody variant of the product:

Basically an intro and... to offer the same led's Rotec has made clear will not be fabricated because of mould cost (just like you predicted months ago)...

Curious he doesn't know this... and that he would be using the original "fabricator's" thread to drum up business... why would we buy from him if we would be able to get it directly from Rotec (if they where ever actually produced that is...).

Marketing and rep points...

As too checking out the production statis... you're a gentleman and a scholar
However I think the fact that Ray has shown zero regard to his potential customers to provide this information on his own poll thread shows he does not share your helpful disposition.
Relax over there killer, The company is dectane not Rotec All I was doing was letting people know when we get them I will try and help the community out by doing a GB. I am a hardcore performance guy myself not really into small things like lights but while at SEMA I hooked up with these guys at dectane and saw that it was a good quality product that I wanted to bring in to my store.

What is it that you are so uptight about these lights???

Seems like you have good intentions. I've always like your posts, they are usually informative. I think he may just be a little annoyed because seriously the carrot has been dangled for a couple years. There seems to be a new 996WB LED Tails thread created every few weeks or something like that just to revisit a ghost project. I understand that there are more important projects for vendors, especially highly profitable ones. If there were someone from Dectane or Rottec, who originally said they would make them, to simply say NO its not going to be made or an ETA it would be much more helpful. Every person I know with a 996TT hates their tails and is willing to get a set. I had a rear tail go bad and was foaming at the mouth for an alternative but its just all narrative. I really do hope someone does produce them but its just been nothing but talk.

I don't think anybody will EVER make a set of LED tail lights for a 996 turbo

I'm willing to be proved wrong, but I'm very confident
