So I hear there is a new 911 model coming out for 2012. I do not know if that is a rumor or not but I bet someone knows here.
If so what will be the changes to the car; that question is just for interetsake because I would not buy that kind of car new.
My bigger questions is what will it do to the value of the older models. Do you guys here the the 996's will take much of a hit. I am sure the 997's would to.

I'm sure he's talking about the 991. The hit to resale value will be stronger on the 997 models, particularly the base model and S (since those are the early 991 models debuting for now). The 996 is already on it's normal depreciation schedule and you can buy early 996 models for under $20k already (1999 and 2000 models). I doubt the depreciation curve will be too steep on any 996 variants at this point since they have already been losing value for some time.
The rare 996 variants such as the GT2 and GT3 have been doing quite well, and even the early 996TT's seem to move very slowly in value (down or up). Obviously we can expect all 996 variants to continue to slowly depreciate slowly for some time yet as they were built in large numbers.
