Stolen!!!

The front license plate and bracket were stolen off my Porsche last night! I just finished filing a police report and need to go to the DMV and dealer on Monday. I need a new bracket and new plates. Anyone in NY has experience with this? Will I be able to keep my custom plates now?

Mad as hell!!!

Hmmmmm. Maybe I should rivet mine on.
Sorry to hear it Stryke.
Do you think the thieves will use your plate as a dummy plate on another car??

I reported them stolen so it's on police file. I am not responsible for it. I hope they get their hands crushed for taking them. I have to waste a day on Monday running around to replace them and the bracket. This will cost me alot of lost time and headache!

BTW, any ideas on how to better secure the front plate brackets? When I fisrt put them in they seemed to just clip into the bumper holes. Nothing really securing them from behind. Any ideas for when I replace them?

Sorry to hear...
Wouldn't reccomend fastening your bracket or plates on, as this will only cause them to "rip" them off next time and maybe do damage to your bumper...
Just my $.02

You can't do that in NY unless you want to pay $105 fine per day!

Sorry to hear that...

I have custom plates with the Yankees-Mets subway series logo...they are no longer in print to if I lose 'em I'm s.o.l.

I've actually been riding around for a year and a half w/o my front plate. My front bumper was refinished and the mounting holes are too large and the plate just falls off, so I bumper-plugged them. I haven't been pulled over yet......I've gotta get it resolved.

I heard a couple of funny excuses to tell the police if pulled over:

1. Is that what flew past me at 120 mph?

2. Wasn't the dealer supposed to take care of that?

3. It must have been the Corvette in front of me, because they suck you know.

LOL

There's PLENTY of NY Porsche owners wearing our plugs.

Forget about fasteners. There should be two nylon inserts with screws that expand them, and then the rubber blocks. But really, nothing will stop thieves, except plugs.

i think the front plate looks hideous? it is illegal not to have one on here in Texas but no one really does it anyway ... maybe some kids or something were walking by and thought your car would look much better without one on ...
