Where to mount an oil temp sending unit for a gauge?

Does anyone have a good spot to mount an oil temperature sending unit for a gauge or Brockway unit? The only obvious option I can think of would be to get an oil drain plug on the case made to accomodate a sensor like the one made by Lindsey Racing or do the same for the oil tank, although I do not know if the oil will flow over the sensor in oil tank enough for an accurate read.

I know some people have mounted oil temp gauges so if you have an idea on where to put the sensor, any ideas would be appreciated. It looks like the 997's got an oil temperature gauge in lieu of a volt meter but the early 996's did not

Kind of a bummer - a stick solution would have been a nice option.

The d-gauge has a oil temp option (among many others) in it display (using a seperate sender). You just have to buy the sender and run the wiring.

Got it - I actually have the sender and wiring, but was trying to figure out the best place to put the sensor. I am not sure where the best and most easily accessible spot on the motor would be.

The D-Gauge is a device made by Brockway Engineering that provides engine parameter information from the ECU. Do a search on the Brockway D Gauge on the forum and you will see the device. It plugs into the OBD port and provides coolant temps, AFR's, along with a ton of other useful information.
