Plenum Leaks - Lower Engine

Hi,

I did a leak test and detected a leak in plenum hoses. I can see the leak but I can her the air coming out.

I need to lower the engine to repair the leak. What is the best way to do it?

I only need to remove the nuts from the motor mounts or is necessary to disconect more parts?

Thanks

You should be able to lower the engine a good four inches. Disconnect and remove the air cleaner. Also disconnect the boost hoses from the y pipe. Support the engine and remove the engine mount bolts. Carefully lower keeping an eye on everything.

Good luck !!

Lower it enough to let it rest on the x bracing. Take a very thin single ply piece of toilet paper and clip it with a hemostat and start moving it around in front of the engine and to the left of the oil tank. When you find the leak the paper will really begin to flutter. If your hands and arms aren't too big, you should be able to reach the hose clamp that adjoins the plastic pipe to the aluminum plenum. If you're lucky, the clamp will be in such a position that you'll be able to get a 1/4 drive socket on it and tighten. 7mm, I think.

You will put substantial stresses on the left and right engine to body coolant hoses lowering the motor to the bracing (~4 inches). This is the reason the shop manual states 1.5" drop max. Remove the airbox, IC hoses and these 2 coolant hoses to be safe.
