Taking my transmission out....

Thanks to all for all your help and tips regarding my rock hard clutch pdal issue. After removing my slave cylinder i put a scope inside and located my shift fork. I then put my finger on it and to my surpise it moves back and forth with absolutely resistance.

As of right now the tranny is just about out. I have to now just pull it about 6 inches out and its completly out of the car, Its now just resting on the trans jack. I am thinking the throw out bearing is broken.

All in all it is not that hard of a job, i got to this point in 3 hours on the lift. getting it on the lift was one of the more challenging tasks, even with the lowest lift rotary offers. removing it from the 4 studs on the block seems to be the most challenging. I may have to take the crossmember and sway bar out and then drop the motor down more, put it all on a angle and slide the tranny down and out. I read a post saying taking the stud out by the starter will also help getting the trans out of the car with the motor in place.

I am going to send the clutch and flywheel into Clutchmaster for inspection and a refresh and i will do the GT2 slave conversion might also do the g-box 2nd gear pop mod, evoms billet shift linkage and fill the trans with some redline.

I did this a while back and found that the metal bracket on top of the tranny had to be removed after angling the tranny for removal. It is hard to get to, but it helps to remove it.

Are you talking about the u shaped bracket in front of the transmission that holds the trans mount to the trans?

No, there is a gold colored metal tab on top of the tranny that bolts to the chassis. I could not get the tyranny angled low enough, even after removing the stud from the case, to get the tyranny out without either lowering the motor or removing this bracket. The bolts holding the bracket to the tranny are torx and hard to reach.

The bracket attaches to the transmission and is on the engine compartment side so it has to clear the firewall area in order to drop the tranny.

Try to get a second set of hands when putting it back together. The fork needs to be held on place and the ducts tape method of holding it in place can be a challenge.
