Problem with CAM during Alignment. Help?

So I took my car to the local wheel alignment place, one of the best in the area. He has all the bells and whistles, really expensive machinery. He does all exotic car dealerships in the area. I've taken countless cars to him and received perfect alignment settings whether custom or just stock.

He showed me the before and after and everything looked great. He then explained to me that one of the rear CAMs he couldn't turn all the way so he couldn't completely adjust it. So he just countered the other side with similar settings so the car would align properly.

I drove away and the car felt really solid. Happy as always. Didn't drive it for a few days. When I took the car for an extended drive I noticed there was like a "turbulent noise" coming from that rear right side (same side he mentioned). It sounds like something rusty has turned. It would happen every once in a while, not consistent.

Why would it just seize? Just a bushing gone bad? What should I replace it with? Should I also go ahead and upgrade anything else (both sides)?

I'd appreciate any advice. Thanks!

sweeney186 is infamous around these parts
Sounds like you are talking about a control arm eccentric .Its really just bolt with a square shoulder to engage the adjuster cam/eccentric.It could be bent, rusted in place, debris contamination or the bushing in the control arm can be failing and not moving properly via the eccentric. Not sure I would have left it alone and adjusted the other side to compensate.I mean it seems like that side is out of spec. & indicating an issue. So why not repair it ? The old two wrongs don't make it right comes to mind.He should have provided a before and after spec. sheet which will provide normal parameters, see if everything is in range

There is a relatively cheap fix for the eccentric, as it goes out of alignment on it's own. You need to buy lock-out plates and use them to replace the eccentrics.
