Fixed spoiler hydraulic rams w/ stop leak, little different method.

Retrieve your pump out of the garbage can and sell it to me. I need some internal parts, I'll pay shipping too.
I did basically what you did for a while only I machined some rods and sourced some short metric bolts to, didn't use the banjos at all. After a while I got tired of the look and just took the wing off altogether. I like that clean simple look the best. I do want to repair the ram though and put it back on when and if I decide to see the beast. I think it will only go up in price from here though so nothing like having a supercar that will hold or slightly appreciate.

ordinarily your post would be met with kudos and questions as to how we also might partake of your ingenuity in the event our wings once again become flaccid. but given there are many of us here that struggle to keep our wings working as intended, through one or other of the many "fixes" found in this thread, and you have an 08 turbo and have taken "nails" to it?! i say try sharing your fix in the 997 turbo forum, and perhaps you'll receive the kind of recognition your fix deserves. for here, i'm not sure it belongs though we share the same malady, and the fixes are the same. nails. but i will say it's a cheaper fix than the fixed wing kit i bought five years ago and have never used.. since i re-bled the system..once but nails!...really?! but good for you for trying! just please dont put that mod in your sig line!

I guess he should have said: "thin metal rods" instead of "nails" to reduce the possibility of ridicule here. I was thinking of doing the same thing at some point, although I wouldn't cut the old lines. I would simply reattach all lines as they were with the "metal rod" maintaining pressure to hold the wing up without the need for hydraulic fluid. Then just disconnect the power to the pump and you would maintain your hydraulics in "stasis" until you can decide to repair or replace.
I don't know why someone would assume this would stop the failure warning though - because it wouldn't. You may not get a warning when the spoiler was supposed to go up, but you'll get the warning when it is supposed to go down.

ha you may well be right. but imagine my surprise when i opened my ebay fixed wing kit to see a cpl dollars worth of hardware i paid 150$ for. i shoulda sold it to someone else when i had the chance! but now i've sobered up ( somewhat?) nails are sounding pretty good if i dont end up buying davecarerra's masterpiece of a MOVABLE electrically operated wing kit! ( please, another round of applause for doing it RIGHT?!)

Repair, Replace or Mod
Maybe the spoiler needs its own sub forums
(wait, these lowbrow forum engines don't support nested/threaded topics).
We need for thread on Repairing a broken spoiler
We need for thread on Replacing a broken spoiler with alternatives
We need for thread to discuss the stupidity of having an articulated spoiler to begin with.
