Headlight 996 TT

I have a 2002 996 TT.

My right headlight bulb is not working. I changed the bulb and continues not to work. I am not sure if I should buy the entire litronic unit

Any suggestions?

Not very familiar with this problem, but try unhooking your battery. If you end up doing this, just take off the negative connection and leave the car be for 10 min. DO NOT UNHOOK THE POSITIVE CONNECTION, THIS WILL RESULT IN SPARKS. Then hook it back up and cross your fingers! Make sure you have your audio code from your Porsche manual as well because your radio will not work without it.

Electronic issues are difficult to diagnose. I'm not sure what disconnecting the battery will do (soft reset), especially when the advice is to cross your fingers...LOL. Here are some reasonable explanations:
1. The "new" bulb is no good. Try switching bulbs from the working headlight
2. The connections are loose or corroded, broken connectors (at the socket inside the fender), pins in the connector pushing out when the headlight is pushed into it.
3. The switch is going bad
4. Check all fuses

I got this problem twice and it was the litronic control unit. To diagnose, you got a good one, just try it on the side that is at fault. This unit part # 996 631 183 00 is $500.00 but got one on Ebay for $70.00....I was curious and took a look inside the control unit and found a hole in the circuit board....
