Any issues when starting the car without headlights installed?

I'm having the headlights refinished and I'm taking them off the car. In the meantime, I'll detail the rest of the car but need to take it out of the garage.

Any reason driving the car without headlights would cause an issue? I wouldn't think so but I don't know anything about the electrical system on the 996.

Thanks!!

Probably not, probably harmless.

Many of us Porsche owners have driven our car with a headlight burnt out, or the assembly not properly inserted/secure in the fender (the light goes out).

I even lost a Boxster headlight from an small collision (hit from behind and the light popped out of the hole) and drove the car a few miles to a shop with no harm.

To be safe avoid turning on the headlight switch, using the turn signals or emergency flasher and stay away from the high beam lever while yhou briefly run the engine with the headlights out of the car.

Oh, forgot I've seen cars in the shop (body/paint shop) that are moved around under their own power sans headlights, taillights, fenders, doors, front/rear trunk lids, bumper covers, even radiators and coolant, though of course the engine is run just a few moments in this case.

Sincerely,

Macster.

Yeah, I figured the worst thing that could happen is getting a warning light that the headlights aren't working.
