I am at Watkins glen and I was downshifting from 4th to 3rd and suddenly for no know reason, I have no 3rd gear. No grinding, no change in shifter feel, but 3rd gear is gone. When put in third it's like neutral. 1st, 2nd, 4th, 5th, and 6th all seem completely fine.

I pulled the center console to see if I could see any linkage problems and the two cables seems to be in perfect working order -- I have a 997ssk installed.

So I know I need to find a good mechanic, but my question is can I drive the car at the track for the next three days without third gear ( i am scheduled for three more track days)? If the problem is the third gear syncro or pins, will driving in other gears create more problems for the transmission? The car has plenty of power to drive without 3rd, so it's really a matter of whether I am doing more damage by continuing to drive.

Please, please help me decide if I can drive tomorrow and the next two days?
