I went with the Pioneer AVIC Z-120BT and an Alpine PDX-5. You cannot use your stock amp if you switch head unit because your new amp will not transmit the security code to the old amp.

Here is the car schematic:

Here is the speaker wiring:

The kit on EBay is from Loi at Euromotorspeed. It will give you some plugs you need and a cage, but the best part is the bezel - it looks very OEM.

Finished product:

Later, Steve
How big is the Lewisville that you need a functional Nav I would say get a normal Garmin unit and put the funds to a good use like a GT2 rear

wing and some quad tail pipes

Awesome car and welcome to the club. For the radio if you like tech I will recommend the Pioneer app radio 2.

Congrats. As a Supra & Porsche owner, I can say the 996TT is a graduation from the Supra with the exception that its not as easy to work on (mostly accessibility/room).

Steve,

Thanks for the link to your thread! Congratulations on finally making the jump into 996TT ownership, and I'm so glad you're pleased with the car (as I suspected you might be). It's not easy to replace a Supra in some ways, but the 996TT is such an all around great car (and over-engineered, just as we're used to) that it really is a terrific choice for former (or current) Supra owners.

I'm chuckling that our cars are so similar, meaning from the cosmetic/color point of view, and both are 2001 models to boot! Anyway, I really hope you enjoy your Porsche and the new experiences to come.

Huh ?

I use the stock Bose setup on my 2002, I just replaced the HU (AVIC X920BT) and it works fine.

This is fine in 2001 and 2002, 2003 introduced the fiber connections (MOST), which is when the problems start. Em I missing something here ?

There is an adapter kit on eBay by you can only use parts of it. I got It mostly for the porsche bezel. I'll post up the wiring diagrams I have when I get home to my CPU.
