No real issues with noise level in CA; has to pass smog though.

You can get a different flavor of awesome with different tuned exhaust, which then is subjective.
+1 Turbos will never sound the same as an NA engine. You trade in the deep grunt for the turbo scream. What's also nice is your headers will glow red at WOT on hard pulls.

Continuing this tradition of the morning -- I would propose to do your own sound symposium. Put a microphone outside the car near the back and have a receiver inside the car.

Actually, I had a chance to drive a 991S and I agree that the sound is very nice when you step on it. However, it was almost too abrupt for me. The sound come on when you're on the throttle, but almost goes too quiet when you're cruising again. Yes -- I realize that this is the best of both worlds -- but it was almost a bit artificial for me. Hard to describe.....

It still seemed fairly loud in low rpm as well but I was driving with the top down. I love the rev matching on the downshifts too

exactly. it isn't coincidental that a push of a button allows for the deeper exhaust note than the standard mode provides. if you don't push sport mode or sport mode + ( i think there's two configs beyond just "drive"? ) it stays uncharacteristically quiet for a 911. once in sport, it does sound wicked though, and what's really cool fun is the throttle blip in the 991S. it's very cool, and yet you nailed it. somehow "artificial" sounding.

If it has 100 cel cats, it will more than likely pass w/o issues. These cars burn extremely clean and most techs don't know p-cars.

Any sound clips on that exhaust? I had to watch the baby yesterday, so I did some research . These are the options I found so far:
* Remus
* Supersprint
* Maxflo Sport (Fabspeed)
* Tubi exhaust
* Maxspeed motorsports
* Cargraphic Exhaust (Sharkwerks)
* Switzer exhaust
* Agency Power
* Milltek
